This year again Fox Hill will be participating in the MCBA program. MCBA stands for the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award and is a reading program run by Salem State College. The program is open to all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in MA. Students who read the minimum of five books will have the chance to vote in a statewide election towards the end of the year. The winning author will be announced before the next summer break. Students will all have a list of the books in a class folder that will be kept on my desk. Once a book has been read, check it off on your list.

This year I’ll be partnering with classroom teachers and also Ms. D’Elia who is the Library Media Specialist at Pine Glen on a lot of exciting projects surrounding the MCBA books.

Outside of the library, you can see the cover of all of the MCBA books, along with a short description so you can see what the book is about. These also show which books are also available as e-books.

Here is a book trailer for “A Girl Named Hamlet” by Erin Dionne. This is my first MCBA book for this year. What’s yours?
